The 3000GT Meets its Watery Grave

at the hands of Tropcial Storm Gaston in Richmond, VA

Here's the 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL that I purchased in Dec 1999 shortly after buying it.

...and here it is ~11:20pm on August 30th, 2004. Of course this is a few hours after the water reached its peak (Which had to be several feet ABOVE the top of the car, as you'll see why).

At 4:30pm when I went to my car to this is what I found....

How about a video of my car flapping aimlessly and trying to signal for help? (Yes, those are my headlights)

So, of course I had to go check out the damage after the rain 'stopped' I trudged down to the lot 'down the hill,'
and waded through ~1.5 feet of water, oil, and gasoline on top of another foot of mud to find this... Also included are pictures of other victims.
I'm amazed my car didn't end up on top of or beneath another. My car was completely flooded out and turned around ~110°

And here's Day 2 - About 9:30am on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 My the water hardly went down any around my car. Look for the (40ft) tall white heating oil containers behind the railroad tracks. I got kicked out of the parking lot by a State Trooper who said they were both about to fall down and into the lot. That would be really bad.

And this is my favorite shot

And here's a panoramic picture of my side of the lot (Click to Enlarge) These may take a while to load
